Morwell Recreation Reserve
Morwell Recreation Reserve is a multi purpose sport complex located in Morwell, Victoria, Australia. It is the home ground of the Gippsland Power Football Club NAB League team, the Morwell Football Club in the Gippsland Football League, and the Morwell Cricket Club in the Latrobe Valley & District Cricket League.
The stadium, with a maximum capacity of 12,000, has also hosted a series of AFL pre-season matches. In 2014, the stadium hosted a Victorian Football League game between the Collingwood and Richmond reserves. In 2019, the stadium hosted its first regular season AFL Women's game, with Collingwood hosting the Greater Western Sydney in Round 4.
An upgrade to the site by the Latrobe City Council commenced in 2018, and saw the installation of new netball courts, lighting towers, a shared pavilion, and a synthetic playing surface for Australian rules and cricket. The second stage of the upgrade was completed in January 2019.
Mid Valley Shopping Centre
Mid Valley Shopping Centre is a regional shopping centre in Morwell, Victoria, Australia. It is the largest shopping centre in Gippsland.[1] The centre commenced trading on 7 September 1982[citation needed] (after an opening ceremony the previous day), and has since been redeveloped between the late 1990s and mid-2000s. The centre has 67 stores, including a discount department store and two supermarkets, as well as a cinema complex and Hardware Store (Bunnings Warehouse).
Traralgon Railway Station
Traralgon railway station is located on the Gippsland line in Victoria, Australia. It serves the city of Traralgon, opening on 1 June 1877.[1][2] It was formerly the junction of the cross country branch line to Maffra and Stratford (closed between 1987-1995) and has historically been the Gippsland region's principal operational location.
In 1995, the current station building and platform was built. This station is located on the opposite side of the tracks to the former station. The former station building still exists and is under private ownership. The area still retains a turntable and engine shed, with the latter listed on the Victorian Heritage Register. Traralgon station is now only used for passenger services, with freight operations ceasing in 1994.
Electification of the Gippsland Line to Traralgon was completed between 1954-1956 to support freight traffic in the Latrobe Valley. Freight traffic declined as demand decreased, and Traralgon station was eventually de-electrified in 1987.
